Manchester United are locked in ‘constant talks’ with Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti as Jose Mourinho remains keen to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford this summer.
The 24-year-old is only into his second season at the Nou Camp but has become a first-team fixture at the heart of the defence alongside Gerard Pique.
His form has sparked interest from across the continent – so too the £50m release clause on his current deal at the Spanish league leaders.
According to Sport Yannick Umtiti, the brother and agent of the player, is constantly engaged in discussions with United.
Ed Woodward, United’s executive vice-chairman, reportedly sent an official to watch the Frenchman in his side’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid last Sunday.
Sport also reports that Umtiti is ‘letting himself be loved’ by Mourinho, who has ordered his French national team-mates Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial with charming him to Manchester.

Ernesto Valverde is reportedly keen to offer Umtiti a new contract to stave off Premier League interest, but it remains to be seen if he will sign.
United had identified Umtiti as one of their top transfer targets with Mourinho plotting to take advantage of his modest release clause.
The United boss wants to bring him to Old Trafford after his summer signing Victor Lindelof’s failure to impress following his move from Benfica.
